When someone is diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, they require love, support and care. From parents, grandparents, siblings, relatives, friends to life partners, they all become this person’s caregivers. At Diabesties, we understand that role of these caregivers can be challenging. Therefore we conceptualised a support group solely dedicated to caregivers of people living with Type 1 diabetes. The idea is to create an ecosystem of support to help fellow caregivers with education about managing this condition their loved ones have to live with. We believe when caregivers feel empowered, the attitude of a person living with Type 1 diabetes also changes for better. We realise that taking care of someone without a break can be overwhelming. That’s why the council also focuses on mental well being of caregivers to avoid episodes of caregivers burnout and comfort them during tough times. The council runs by the principle of “We are all in this together”.
